IVLP Delegates: Spain, Greece, Gaza

During the next two weeks, IVC Detroit will welcome several groups of delegates invited to the United States under the auspices of the Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program. The groups are as follows:

Spain   September 29th- October 2nd               

2 professionals, a prosecutor for the National Court and an inspector for the Spanish National Police,  focusing on “Combating International Crime”.

The goal of the program is for the delegates to examine the structure of the U.S. criminal justice system and to review how its principles are applied to the prosecution on international crime. Furthermore, the delegates will be exploring U.S. foreign policy priorities to build global cooperation against terrorism and other international crime,  and examine the issues of balancing law enforcement and security with civil liberties.

Greece    October 2nd- October 6th                     

1 professional, a Senior Analyst for the Research Institute for European and American Studies (RIEAS),  focusing on “Muslim Culture in America”.

The goal of the program is for the delegate to gain an understanding of U.S. foreign policy toward the Muslim world, to explore the integration of Muslim communities in the U.S., to gain insight into the relation of U.S. culture and society with the Muslim world, and to learn about Islamic studies programs in U.S. educational institutions.

Gaza      October 3rd- October 6th                     

11 professionals, consisting of General Managers, Entrepreneuers, Directors and Consultants, focusing on “Entrepreneurship and Business Management”.

The goal of the program is for delegates to learn about Private Sector Development, Small and Medium Enterprises Development, Economic Trends, institutional capacity building, and financing businesses.

09/02 Multi Regional Meet & Greet

International Visitors Council of Detroit (IVC Detroit) held its second Visitor Meet & Greet Social Networking Program on Thursday evening September 2nd at Quattro Pizzeria & Wine Bar in downtown Birmingham where Detroiters gathered over cocktails and appetizers to meet 6 Multi Regional Professionals representing: China, India, Kosovo, the Philippines, Sudan, and Tunisia. The Multi Regional delegates focusing on “Sustainable Urban Development in the U.S.” were chosen by the US Department of State and the American Embassies in their respective countries for participation in the prestigious International Visitor Leadership Program.
