10/5 Vietnamese Cultural Dinner Update
IVC Detroit provides members & guests unique international experiences
On Tuesday night October 5th IVC Detroiters celebrated the culture & cuisine of Vietnam and met business entrepreneurs from Gaza. During the cultural dinner at Đà Nẵng Restaurant in Clawson, chef/proprietor Kim Dao-Waldis wearing her traditional (Ao dai) red & gold wedding dress welcomed guests with her story of childhood in Đà Nẵng (a major port city in the south central coast of Vietnam) and how she and her family were able to escape Vietnam and come to the US during the 1970’s. Kim & restaurant staff prepared delicious authentic Vietnamese cuisine including: Imperial tolls; a steamed chicken salad, boneless short ribs with vermicelli, Vietnamese crepes and molded mango/orange & lemon sorbets. IVC Detroit was pleased to introduce a delegation of 10 emerging business leaders from Palestine. It was a full house and certainly a unique experience observing the State Department Escort Officer translating Kim’s Vietnamese experiences into Arabic for the visitor delegation. Today, IVC Detroit member Ed Bartley- Sales Director, Bonnier Technology Group, Bonnier Media Corporation writes in an email: “Thank you for a great evening!!
