International Visitor Leadership Program
IVC Detroit administers the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) bringing participants each year to Detroit from all over the world to meet and confer with their professional peers and to experience the U.S. firsthand. The visitors, who are current or emerging leaders in government, politics, the media, education, and other fields, are selected by the American Embassy in their countries. More than 200 current and former Heads of State, 1,500 cabinet-level ministers, and many other distinguished world leaders in government and the private sector have participated in the International Visitor Leadership Program. Alumni of the Program include: Gordon Brown(UK), Hamid Karzi (Afghanistan), Felipe Calderon (Mexico), Nicolas Sarkozy (France), Pratibha Patil (India).
While in Detroit international visitors
- visit business, scientific, educational, and governmental organizations
- enjoy dinner hospitality in American homes with IVC Detroit hosts
- participate in cultural, social and recreational events in the metropolitan area
